Jo Malone London is a British fragrance house known for elegantly simple scents with unexpected ingredients and a unique twist. For the US launch of their new collection “the Huntsman”, they wanted to take a very innovative approach and asked Franck Mounier, whisky expert at Whisky Gourmet to create an educational tasting with whiskies matching the four new fragrances!

A very first experience of its kind! But with the combination of the two experts, it produced an amazing show!

The whole experience highlighted the many similarities existing between whisky and perfume: the search of enjoyment, the feeling of happiness, the call for encounter, the creation of emotions, and much more…   The combined presentation of the Hunstman collection and the Matching whiskies proved to be a great idea: the audience was stunned by the similarities of the aromas and fragrances, and how the whisky was enhancing the experience with the four perfumes.

CREATING EMOTIONS

The art of drinking and enjoying whisky is meant to create positive emotions. For fragrances, this should be the same aim, and Jo Malone is spot on with the new perfume collection. It is quite amazing to feel such intense emotions by the simple exposure to our olfactory system.

These are the four fragrances composing the Huntsman collection: four different profiles, four different emotions and feelings, all creating their own atmosphere. You should try all them, then you might realize that you may not need only one of them, but all four, or even a combination of some, as various contexts might lead you to be willing to wear what is best suited for the moment.

When exposed to these four fragrances, you may feel what is described below, or something else. All these emotions are very personal and come from memories, obviously different for all…


Whisky & Cedarwood, a very inspirational fragrance, daring and intriguing, certainly the trigger for for this unique event!
Amber & Patchouli, evoking a romantic and sensual evening
Birch & Black Pepper, rebellious and contrasted, it creates a feeling of energetic fulfillment
Assam & Grapefruit: a fresh kick, creator of energy and puhing for a “can do” attitude

The show happened at the very elegant restaurant The Rotunda, located at the top floor of Neiman Marcus, in Paramus, New Jersey.

Now, for the first time, in partnership with the Savile Row tailor company Huntsman, the brand releases a line of 4 fragrances made specially for the male audience. Interestingly, the compositions are based on the unisex limited editions from previous collections that proved to appeal more to men’s tastes. The four novelties – Whisky & Cedarwood, Amber & Patchouli, Birch & Black Pepper and Assam & Grapefruit – come in the classic bottle, decorated with a distinctive Huntsman’s logo and topped with a wooden-like, matte cap.
